National Bank gets new chairman, replacing Minister Abdul Awal Mintoo

Professor Dr Melita Mehjabeen has been elected as the new chairman of the board of directors of National Bank PLC, replacing Abdul AwalMintoo, minister for environment, forest and climate change.
The decision was taken at the bank’s 539th meeting of the board of directors held on 28 February, according to information published on the bank’s official website.
Dr Mehjabeen, who previously served as an independent director of the bank, assumed the role with immediate effect.
Abdul Awal Mintoo stepped down from the position as members of parliament are not permitted to hold the chairmanship of a bank, prompting the board to appoint a new chairman.
