‘Barir Naam Shahana’ set for OTT release

‘Barir Naam Shahana’, Bangladesh’s submission for the Best International Feature Film category at the 98th Academy Awards, is set to stream on OTT platform iScreen.

A streaming date has yet to be announced. The film marks the directorial debut of Leesa Gazi.

Although selected as Bangladesh’s submission for the international feature film category at the Oscars, it did not secure a nomination.

Based on Gazi’s 2011 novel, ‘Barir Naam Shahana’ is set in rural Bangladesh in the 1990s and follows a young woman named Dipa. She is forced into marriage with a widower living in England.

Produced by Komola Collective and Goopy Bagha Productions Ltd, the film stars Aanon Siddiqua as Dipa.
