Dhaka Samity distributes food aid to needy people
City Desk :
The Dhaka Samity, an organisation of Dhaka’s indigenous residents, distributed essential food items among the city’s helpless destitute on Friday at 3:00 PM, ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.
The event took place at the committee’s own office (Nawab Yusuf Market, Nayabazar).
MP Alhaj Hamid ur Rahman Hamid of Dhaka-7 constituency, attended as the chief guest, while Mohammad Helaluddin Helal, president of the Bangladesh Shop Owners Association and former vice-president of FBCCI, was present as special guest.
Organised as part of DMC’s ongoing poverty alleviation programmes-this non-political group focuses on the social development of Dhaka natives-the food distribution drew prominent city figures.
Committee president Alhaj Mohammad Ismail Nawab chaired the event, with general secretary Abu Motaleb, food distribution committee convener Haji Din Mohammad, and other officials in attendance.
Around 2,000 families received the aid packets.
