Hadi murder probe delayed again
Staff Reporter :
A court in Dhaka has set 11 March as the new date for submitting the investigation report in the murder case of Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Sharif Osman Bin Hadi.
This is the ninth time the submission of the probe report has been delayed.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Jashita Islam fixed the new date after the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) failed to submit the report within the scheduled time.
Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, an independent candidate from the Dhaka-8 constituency, was shot in the Paltan area of Dhaka on 12 December 2025. He later died on 18 December while undergoing treatment in Singapore.
On 14 December 2025, Abdullah Al Jaber, member secretary of Inqilab Moncho, filed a case with Paltan Model Police Station over the shooting. After Hadi’s death, the case was converted from attempted murder to murder.
On 6 January, Detective Branch (DB) Inspector Faisal Ahmed, the investigation officer, submitted a chargesheet against 17 accused.
However, on 15 January, the plaintiff filed a no-confidence (naraji) petition, claiming that the chargesheet did not include the main masterminds behind the killing.
Following the petition, the court ordered the CID to take over and reinvestigate the case.
