Icons will get Taka 10 lakh each in WBPL Cricket

Bangladesh Cricket Board has officially announced the organisation of Women’s Bangladesh Premier League (WBPL) Cricket for the first time. The players’ draft of this tournament will be held on March 14. A total of three teams will take part in the WBPL.
In the meantime, the selectors have taken up the task of dividing the cricketers into different categories.
Local cricketers will be divided into a total of five categories. The highest category is ‘Icon’. The three top cricketers of the Bangladesh National Women’s Cricket team will be kept in this list and each franchise will take one icon in the team.
The remuneration of the icon cricketers has been set at a maximum of Taka10 lakh each. Captain Nigar Sultana is confirmed in this list. In addition, Vice-Captain Nahida Aker and Sobhana Mostari are being considered. The second highest ‘A’ category will have 6 cricketers. Each team will take two players from here, the remuneration is Taka seven lakh each.
The remuneration set for 12 cricketers in the ‘B’ category is Taka five lakh each.
There will be about 20 players in the ‘C’ category, whose salary is Taka three lakh each. If anyone from this list does not make it to the team in the first round, they will be included in the ‘D’ category with a base price of Taka 1.5 lakh each.
The category in which the cricketers will be has not been finalized yet. The final list will be released in a few days, said Selector of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team Sazzad Ahmed.
Before the draft, the franchises can directly sign contracts with foreign cricketers if they want. They can also be kept in the draft based on interest.
At least two foreign cricketers must be in the playing XI in each match. A minimum of four foreign players must be kept in the squad.
The WBPL matches will be held between April 3 to April 15. The list of possible venues are Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur and Bir Shreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Chittagong.
The franchise fee for the three teams to participate in this tournament has been set at Taka three million each. A notice for the sale of franchise ownership has already been published.
Nabil Group, the owner of the champions of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket Rajshahi Warriors, has expressed interest. In addition, the BCB has also started the process of acquiring TV broadcasting rights and sponsors.
