Cop killed in road accident

A policeman died after being seriously injured in a road accident while returning to the police station after arresting a fugitive suspect in Hossainpur Upazila of Kishoreganj on early Sunday.

The deceased, Constable Nazrul Islam (52), son of late Badsha Miah at Shimla village in Gopalganj of Tangail.
A total of five people, including three other policemen, the arrested accused and the CNG driver, were injured in the incident. According to Police , a CNG autorickshaw carrying police collided head-on with a bus coming from the opposite direction in the Padorgati area in Gobindapur union of Hossionpur upazila.

Constable Nazrul Islam was seriously injured in the accident. The injured others received primary treatment at a local hospital.

After the accident, the seriously injured Nazrul Islam was quickly rescued and admitted to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH), when his physical condition deteriorated there, he was transferred to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital for better treatment. He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at around 11 am on Sunday.

Additional SP (Crime) of Kishoreganj, Mahamudul Islam Talukder confirmed the incident and told the New Nation that legal proceedings are ongoing regarding the accident.
