Youth Cricket League set to begin in March
BSS, Dhaka :
The Youth Cricket League, a tournament for young cricketers, is set to begin in the first week of March, a Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) official said on Sunday.
The league, tentatively scheduled to start on March 5, is considered as a key preparation platform for Under-19 players ahead of the 2028 Youth World Cup.
A 30-member preliminary squad will be selected based on players’ performances in the tournament.
Cox’s Bazar and Sylhet are considered as venues, as the board believes the availability of multiple grounds in both locations will help ensure smooth organization. A final decision on the host venue will be announced later.
Meanwhile, following the national elections, cricket activities in the country are gradually resuming. Most cricketers had been on rest prior to the 13th National Elections held on February 12.
At present, only the Bangladesh Women’s ‘A’ team is engaged in competitive cricket.
Domestic cricket will mark the full return to action, with the ODI version of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL) scheduled to begin on February 23.
The much-anticipated Youth Cricket League for junior cricketers will follow soon after.
