Women in Jamaat hold procession
Natore Correspondent :
For the first time since independence, a massive procession with thousands of female leaders and activists was organized by Natore Municipal Women’s Jamaat in support of the 11-party alliance and Jamaat-nominated candidate Professor Md. Yunus Ali in the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The electoral procession began on Wednesday, from Madrasah Mor, Swadhinata Chattar, and moved along several important streets of the town.
The event was addressed by Ms. Mostazia Banu, Assistant Director of Jamaat’s Rajshahi Region; Zobaida Kakon Lipi, Assistant Secretary of District Women’s Jamaat; Shahnaz Sheli, District Women’s Organizational Secretary; Ms. Naima Islam, Secretary of Natore Sadar Upazila Women’s Jamaat; and other leaders.
During the event, the female leaders stated that despite facing many obstacles in Natore today, the massive turnout of female activists proves their strong presence. They rejected propaganda claiming that if Jamaat comes to power, women will not be allowed to move freely. This voluntary procession and the presence of women in the town demonstrates that they are not afraid, and only fear Allah.
The leaders expressed hope that in the upcoming February 12 election, people will freely cast their votes “yes” or “no,” and that Professor Yunus Ali’s justice and integrity will triumph. They emphasized respect for the public’s expectations and called on citizens to go to polling stations freely, without fear, coercion, or harassment.
The female leaders also urged that those serving in election duties carry out their responsibilities with honesty and integrity, reflecting the democratic spirit of the election.
