The Bangladesh team finished on top and qualified for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 scheduled in England in June-July this year. They were the only unbeaten team in the qualifiers, having won seven consecutive matches.

The team was greeted at the airport on arrival by BCB Director and Chairperson of the Women’s Wing Committee Rubaba Dowla.

The team members will take some rest before starting preparation for the T20 World Cup. The BCB, meanwhile, is trying to arrange some International matches for them to take a better preparation for the showcase event.

The Tigresses, as it is adorably called, secured their place in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, scheduled to be held in England and Wales in June-July, after topping the qualifiers with seven consecutive victories.

The team’s collective effort during the tournament was reflected in the latest rankings update, with several Bangladeshi players making notable gains.

Sobhana Mostari, captain Nigar Sultana Joty, and opener Dilara Akhtar impressed with the bat, leading to improved rankings.

Among them, Sobhana who showcased her hard-hitting prowess made the biggest jump. She finished as the second-highest run-scorer in the qualifiers with 262 runs from seven matches, climbing 16 places to reach 36th in the women’s T20 batting rankings.

Captain Nigar Sultana Joty, who amassed 154 runs in the tournament, moved up three places to 19th, while Dilara Akhtar rose five places to 65th.

Bangladesh also enjoyed success in the bowling rankings. Left-arm spinner Nahida Akhtar, who claimed eight wickets in the qualifiers, climbed eight places to 28th in the women’s T20 bowlers’ rankings.
