N’ganj begins receiving, securing postal ballots

The Narayanganj District Administration and Returning Officer has started receiving and preserving postal ballots sent by the postal department in the presence of candidates’ agents, ahead of the 2026 referendum and the 13th National Parliamentary Election.

The ballot receiving and preservation process took place in the conference room of the Deputy Commissioner’s office, chaired by District Commissioner and Returning Officer Md. Raihan Kabir on Monday.

During the session, 4 postal ballots were received for Narayanganj-1 constituency, none for Narayanganj-2, 7 for Narayanganj-3, 22 for Narayanganj-4, and 43 for Narayanganj-5. A total of 52 postal ballots were collected.
Returning Officer Raihan Kabir said that the number of registered postal voters is as follows: 3,526 in Narayanganj-1, 4,499 in Narayanganj-2, 6,573 in Narayanganj-3, 4,424 in Narayanganj-4, and 4,792 in Narayanganj-5.

In Narayanganj-1, 7 ballots were received, of which 3 were rejected due to the absence of QR codes and 4 were accepted. All 7 ballots received in Narayanganj-3 were accepted with no rejections. In Narayanganj-4, all 22 ballots were successfully collected. In Narayanganj-5, 33 ballots were accepted successfully, 9 were rejected due to incomplete information, and 1 ballot mistakenly sent for Pabna-5 constituency was later forwarded to the correct electoral area.

He stated that the postal ballots are being received and stored daily in the presence of agents from all contesting candidates.

This process will continue every afternoon until February 12. He emphasized that there is no opportunity for any irregularity in this election.

Among those present were Assistant Returning Officer Md. Alamgir Hossain, Additional District Election Officer Md. Rakibuzzaman, Additional Deputy Commissioner Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Senior Assistant Commissioner Md. Nazmul Huda, other officials, and agents from various political parties.
