Meghla claims 4/14: Tigresses thrash Namibia in T20 WC Qualifiers

Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team thrashed Namibia Women’s Cricket team by 80 runs in their match of the International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup (WC) Qualifiers at Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur of Nepal on Thursday.
Sanjida Akter Meghla of Bangladesh Women’s Cricket team played the key role in demolishing Namibia innings.
She claimed four wickets in the space of 14 runs in her four overs with one maiden over. Meghla was adjudged the Player of the Match.
Put into bat first, the Tigresses piled up a satisfactory 144 for the loss of seven wickets in the stipulated 20 overs and then shot out Namibia for 64 off 17.5 overs.
Bangladesh had a sorrow start as opener Juairiya Ferdous (0) was dismissed by Samia Tuhadeleni when Bangladesh’s score was just one.
Opener Dilara Akter and Sharmin Akhter repaired the damage contributing together 33 runs for the second wicket partnership before Sharmin Akhter (13) was trapped leg before wicket by Sylvia Shihepo when Bangladesh’s total was 34 for the loss of two wickets.
After Sharmin’s dismissal, Dilara Akter was dismissed by Shihepo when Bangladesh’s score was 44 for the loss of three wickets.
Dilara Akter made 25 from 17 deliveries featuring four fours and a sixer.
Second down Nigar Sultana and third down Sobhana Mostary built another remarkable partnership scoring together 46 runs in the four-wicket stand before Sobhana Mostary was dismissed by Tuhadeleni when the Tigresses’ total was 90 for the loss of four wickets.
Sobhana Mostary hit 27. Her 23-ball innings was decorated with two sixes and one four.
After Sobhana’s departure, Bangladesh failed to make any notable partnership.
Nigar Sultana scored 21 from 29 balls including three fours.
Shorna Akter notched up 23. Her 18-ball knock was laced with two fours.
Shihepo and Tuhadeleni bagged two wickets instead of 21 and 34 runs respectively.
Besides, Wilka Mwatile and Jurriene Diergaardt took one wicket each conceding 14 and 35 runs respectively.
Later, Sune Wittmann and Merczerly Gorases were the two batters of Namibia who could reach the double digit figures making 19 and 12 runs respectively.
Rabeya Khan and Fahima Khatun grabbed three wickets each instead of five and 12 runs respectively.
