Shoriful's 5-wkt haul: Easy win for Chattogram in BPL

A five-wicket haul by Shoriful Islam powered Chattogram Royals to earn an easy five-wicket win over Naokahali Express in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Friday.
Shoriful Islam bowled extremely well as he captured five wickets in the space of nine runs in his 3.5 overs. Shoriful Islam was adjudged the Player of the Match for his outstanding bowling performance.
After yesterday’s outcome, Chattogram Royals gained 12 points from eight matches, while Noakhali Exprtess collected four points from nine matches. Noakhali were ousted from this year’s BPL Cricket.
Chasing Noakhali’s total of 126 off 18.5 overs, Chattogram sailed home making 128 for the loss of five wickets when they had 18 balls to spare.
Chattoram lost their early four wickets for 29 runs.
Then, Hasan Nawaz and Mahedi Hasan repaired the damage contributing 40 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Hasan Nawaz (11) was stumped out by wicketkeeper Jaker Ali off Zahir Khan when Chattogram’s score was 69 for the loss of five wickets.
After Nawaz’s dismissal, Mahedi Hasan and Asif Ali salvaged their team and played the key role to reach the victory target scoring together 59 runs for the unbroken sixth wicket partnership.
Mahedi Hasan remained unbeaten with 49 runs. His 36-ball innings was belted with four fours and two sixes.
Asif Ali remained unbeaten with 36 runs. His 30-ball knock had two sixes and two fours.
Ihsanullah bagged two wickets instead of 23 runs, while Hasan Mahmud, Zahir Khan and Sabbir Hossain got one wicket each conceding 17, 29 and 32 runs respectively.
Noakhali Express had a good start with the two openers Hassan Eisakhil and Soumya Sarkar put on together 34 runs in the opening stand before Soumya Sarkar (14) was bowled out by Mahedi Hasan.
Then Noakhali failed to make any notable partnership. They lost their wickets in regular intervals.
After Soumya’s departure, Hassan Eisakhil could not stay at the crease for a long period as he was dismissed by Shoriful Islam when Noakhali’s score 49 for the loss of two wickets.
Hassan Eisakhil made 25 from 20 deliveries featuring two fours and two sixers.
After Eisakhil’s dismissal, Haider Ali (12) was dismissed by Mahedi Hasan when Noakhali’s score was 78 for the loss of three wickets.
After Haider Ali’s departure, Jaker Ali was trapped leg before wicket Aamer Jamal when Noakhali’s total was 86 for the loss of four wickets.
Jaker Ali scored 23 using 22 balls including two fours and a six.
After Haider Ali’s dismissal, Munim Shahriar (1) was run out by Mohammad Naim when Noakhali’s score was 89 for the loss of five wickets.
After Munim’s dismissal, Habibur Rahman Sohan (11) was dismissed by Mahedi Hasan when Noakhali’s total was 91 for the loss of six wickets.
Hasan Mahmud (4) was dismissed by Shoriful Islam when Noakhali’s score was 106 for the loss of seven wickets.
Mehedi Hasan Rana (0) was dismissed by Shoriful Islam when Noakhali’s total was 106 for the loss of eight wickets.
Sabbir Hossain was dismissed Shoriful Islam when Noakhali’s score was 126 for the loss of nine wickets.
Sabbir Hossain scored 22 playing 19 balls with two sixes and one four.
Ihsanullah (0) was bowled out by Shoriful Islam and Noakhali’s innings came to an end.
Mahedi Hasan grabbed three wickets at the cost of 12 runs. Aamer Jamal took one wicket instead of 36 runs.
