Tarique to attend citizens’ condolence meeting for Khaleda Zia today

BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman will attend a citizens’ condolence meeting organised in memory of former BNP Chairperson and three-time Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia today.

The programme will take place at the South Plaza of the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban on Friday, following Jumma prayers. It was announced at a press conference held on Thursday at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh (KIB) Convention Hall that Tarique Rahman, along with members of Khaleda Zia’s family, will be present at the condolence meeting scheduled for 2:30pm.

The press conference was presided over by noted educationist and economist Professor Dr Mahbub Ullah. Speakers at the press conference said that all family members of Begum Khaleda Zia have been invited to the citizens’ condolence meeting and have confirmed their attendance.

Former Chief Justice Syed JR Modassir Hossain will attend the programme as the chief guest. The event will also be attended by eminent citizens, media personalities, and representatives from various professions.
Among those present at the press conference were Dhaka University Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mamun Ahmed, Executive Editor of The Daily Ittefaq Saleh Uddin, Bangladesh Federal Journalists’ Union (BFUJ) General Secretary Kader Gani Chowdhury and Press Institute of Bangladesh (PIB) Director General Faruq Wasif.

NTRCA-registered job-seeking teachers meet BNP chief : BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Thursday listened the demands of job-seeking teachers registered under the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA), who had gathered outside his party office in Gulshan to present their demands.

According to Sayrul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, the interaction took place in front of the party chairperson’s political office this afternoon.

“Tarique Rahman arrived at the Gulshan office by car from his nearby residence. At that time, a group of NTRCA-registered job-seeking teachers had assembled at the office gate to press their demands,” he said.

The teachers highlighted their long-standing concerns regarding delays in recruitment and urged the party to take effective measures to ensure timely appointments in non-government educational institutions.
