Worker dies as iron pipe falls from building

A worker was killed after being hit by an iron pipe that fell from an under-construction building in Moghbazar area of the capital on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Taijul Islam, 20 of Nageshwari upazila in Kurigram district.

Inspector Md Faruk, in-charge of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital police camp, said the accident occurred around 12 pm when the iron pipe suddenly fell on Taijul’s head from the 5th floor of an under-construction building while he was working at the basement section of the building, leaving him injured, reports UNB.

Later, he was taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital where the doctors declared him dead around 1:30 pm.
