54 DU students get Dean’s Award

Fifty-four meritorious students from various departments under the Faculty of Biological Sciences of Dhaka University (DU) have been awarded “Dean’s Award” for their excellent academic results in BS honors examinations of 2013. Among them, 14 male and 40 female students have received this award. Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr AAMS Arefin Siddique handed over the award to the brilliant students at a function held recently at Nabab Nawab Ali Chowdhury Senate Bhaban of the university.
Dean of the Faculty of Biological Sciences Prof Dr M Imdadul Hoque presided over the function while Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof Dr Nasreen Ahmad and Treasurer Prof Dr Md. Kamal Uddin addressed it as special guests. Chairpersons of the various departments declared the names of awardees. Convener of Dean’s Award Organizing Committee Prof Dr Moniruzzaman Khondker gave vote of thanks. Associate professor of the Department of Microbiology Dr Sangita Ahmed and Associate professor of the Department of Psychology Ashiq Mohammad Shimul conducted the program.
Prof Arefin Siddique congratulated the awardees as well as the teachers and the guardians. He said, Dhaka University authorities are relentlessly trying to produce global standard graduates in the country. The guardians have also to teach their descendants in the family properly to make them honest, patriotic and worthy citizen, he added.
The VC urged the students to make them good human being to equip themselves with the spirits of our Liberation War. He said, a total of 74 percent of awardees are female students in this year. The female students have to come forward with their merits to build a better society in such a way, he mentioned.
