Patients with cold-related diseases increase

The number of patients suffering from cold-related diseases has increased in the last few days across the country, including in Kishoreganj, particularly among newborns and young children.

Civil Surgeon (CS) of Kishoreganj, Dr. Ovijeet Sharma has advised people, particularly children and the elderly, to remain alert about the cold-related diseases, including fever, flu type diseases and pneumonia.

“Alongside the coronavirus infected patients, many people are suffering from seasonal flu like diseases, including fever and cough. But they are getting recovery after taking treatment,” Superentdent of Kishoreganj 250-bed General Hospital Dr.Shamsul Alam Noor told the New Nation.

Kishoreganj 250- beded General Hospital source said cold-related diseases have started spreading at the beginning of winter, which still continues and is affecting people, mainly children and the elderly. A large number of patients are suffering from common cold, diarrhoea and flu like disease.

“The number of cold-related patients has increased in our hospital for the last few weeks. Particularly, the number of children infected with pneumonia has increased,” Deputy Director of Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital told the New Nation.

While visiting the Kishoreganj general hospital, this reporter saw that many patients are also rushing to the hospital outpatient department with various types of flu like diseases, including fever and cough.

Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital (SSNIMCH) sources said the number of patients with flu like diseases particularly children with pneumonia has increased in the hospital in the last one week.On Sunday, at least 80 childrens admitted to child ward in SSNIMCH.
