All-round performance by Hasan Nawaz: Chattogram win a thriller in BPL Cricket

Chattogram Royals notched up a thrilling two-wicket victory over Rajshahi Warriors in their match of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Friday.

After yesterday’s outcome, Chattogram Royals collected 10 points from seven matches, while Rajshahi Warriors bagged eight points from six matches.

Put into bat first, Rajshahi Warriors piled up a fighting total of 128 for the loss of nine wickets in the stipulated 20 overs.

In reply, Chattogram Royals reached the victory target in the last ball of the 20th over making 120 for the loss of eight wickets.

Chattogram Royals lost their early four wickets for 28 runs.
Second down Hasan Nawaz and Mahedi Hasan mended the innings contributing 40 runs for the fifth wicket partnership before Mahedi Hasan was bowled out by Sandeep Lamichhane when Chattogram’s score was 68 for the loss of five wickets.

Mahedi Hasan made 28 from 25 deliveries featuring three fours and a sixer.
After Mahedi’s dismissal, Hasan Nawaz and Asif Ali built another notable partnership scoring together 35 runs in the six-wicket stand before Asif Ali was dismissed by Binura Fernando when Chattogram’s total was 103 for the loss of six wickets.

Asif Ali scored 27 from 25 balls including three fours and a six.
Hasan Nawaz remained unbeaten with 35. His 36-ball innings was decorated with two fours. Earlier, Hasan Nawaz took one wicket for 13 runs. He was adjudged the Player of the Match.
After Asif’s departure, Chattogram failed to make any notable partnership.

But Number Eight batter Aamer Jamal scored eight runs from four balls with one sixer which helped Chattogram to win the match.

Binura Fernando captured three wickets in the space of 18 runs, while SM Meherob Hasan bagged two wickets instead of 25 runs.
Besides, Sandeep Lamichhane, Tanzim Hasan and Ripon Mondol picked up one wicket each for 21, 25 and 33 runs respectively.
The batters of Rajshahi Warriors failed to make any remarkable partnership. Mohammad Waseem, SM Meherob Hasan, Akbar Ali, Mushfiqur Rahim, Tanzim Hasan and Ryan Burl could reach the double digit figures scoring 19, 19, 17, 15, 14*, 11 runs respectively.
Aamer Jamal grabbed three wickets in lieu of 23 runs, while Shoriful Islam and Tanvir Islam captured two wickets each instead of 20 and 26 runs respectively.
Mahedi Hasan got one wicket for 21 runs.
