Shanto, Anik, Ankon dropped: BCB announces squad for ICC T20 World Cup

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced on Sunday the 15-member Bangladesh Cricket squad for the upcoming International Cricket Council (ICC) T20 World Cup, which is scheduled to be held in India and Sri Lanka from February 7 to March 8.

Test Captain of Bangladesh Cricket team Najmul Hossain Shanto and wicketkeeper-batter Jaker Ali Anik and Mahidul Islam Ankon were not included in the squad.

Litton Das has retained his captaincy. Pacer Taskin Ahmed returned to the squad.

Nurul Hasan Sohan, Tanzid Hasan Tamim, Parvez Hossain Emon, Saif Hassan have been kept their place in the squad. Towhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain will perform in the middle-order. Pacers Mustafizur Rahman, Shoriful Islam, Tanzim Hasan Shakib have retained their position. All-rounder Mohammad Saifuddin also retained his place. Spinners Rishad Hossain, Mahedi Hasan and Nasum Ahmed have been included in the squad.

A total of 20 teams splitting into four groups will take part in the ICC T20 World Cup. Bangladesh, West Indies, England, Italy and West Indies have been included in the Group-C.

Bangladesh will take on West Indies in their first match on February 7, the Tigers will face Italy on February 9, Bangladesh will meet England on February 14, Bangladesh will play against Nepal on February 17.

The players, who have been included in the squad, are: Litton Das (Captain), Saif Hassan (Vice-Captain), Tanzid Hasan, Parvez Hossain Emon, Tawhid Hridoy, Shamim Hossain, Nurul Hasan Sohan, Mahedi Hasan, Rishad Hossain, Nasum Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Shoriful Islam and Mohammad Saifuddin.
