40 nomination papers valid, 16 rejected

In the 13th National Parliamentary Election, 40 of the 57 nomination papers submitted for five constituencies in Narayanganj have been declared valid, while 16 have been rejected.

Narayanganj Returning Officer and Deputy Commissioner Md. Raihan Kabir confirmed the information on Saturday after the scrutiny of nomination papers at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.

In Narayanganj-1 (Rupganj), six nomination papers were submitted, but four were rejected.

Among the disqualified candidates, independent candidate and former Jubo Dal organizational secretary Md. Dulal Hossain’s nomination was invalidated due to less than 1% of voter signatures being verified as correct.

Another candidate, Moniruzzaman Chandan, was disqualified because his affidavit lacked the necessary signatures.

In Narayanganj-2 (Araihazar), 10 nominations were filed, with six approved and four rejected.

Abu Hanif Hridoy of the Bangladesh Republican Party was disqualified due to outstanding loan defaults.

Independent candidates Abdul Awal and Mizanur Rahman faced disqualification for having less than 1% verified voter signatures.

Additionally, Habibullah of the Bangladesh Islami Andolan was disqualified for submitting an incomplete affidavit and providing insufficient details of proposers and supporters.

In Narayanganj-3 (Siddhirganj-Sonargaon), out of 11 submissions, 10 nominations were validated. Former Member of Parliament Professor Rezaul Karim’s nomination was disqualified because of an incomplete affidavit.

In Narayanganj-4 (Fatullah), 15 nominations were submitted; 10 were approved and five disqualified. Among the rejected candidates, Arif Bhuiya, Iqbal Hossain, and Selim Ahmed had incomplete affidavits with withheld information.

Independent candidate Salauddin Khoka’s nomination was invalidated due to unpaid Titas Gas bills.

Additionally, former female vice chairman of Sadar Upazila, Fatema Monir, was disqualified due to incorrect voter signatures.
