Passenger held with drugs

Police have arrested five people for robbing a CNG passenger of cash and business documents in Narayanganj Port after spraying a narcotic substance known as “Devil’s Breath” to make him unconscious.

The arrested individuals are Md. Suman Sharif (40), Saddam Miji (32), Md. Yasin Hossain alias Robiul (25), Md. Rokon Gazi (25), and Sajib Mia (25).

They were sent to court on Friday morning (January 2). The matter was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime & Operations) Tarek Al Mehedi. Earlier, after the victim filed a case on Thursday (January 1), Port Police arrested them in the afternoon from the Jatrabari bus stand area under DMP.

According to the case statement, on December 24, Dulal Hossain (53), a resident of Kalyandi area under Port Police Station, boarded a CNG from Kalyandi Stand to go to the Dutch-Bangla Bank Port Branch for business transactions, carrying Tk 86,000 in cash and two bags containing account books. However, upon reaching the bank area, the driver did not stop the vehicle.
