BCB cancels Chattogram phase of BPL Cricket

The Bangladesh Cricket Board has cancelled the Chattogram phase of Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket. Instead of Chattogram phase of BPL matches, the BPL games will be held at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium (SBNCS) in the capital’s Mirpur. According to the new fixture, The first phase of BPL matches will be held at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium until January 12. After the Sylhet phase, the matches of BPL will be held at the SBNCS from January 15 including Eliminator, 1st Qualifier, 2nd Qualifier and the final. The four matches of BPL Cricket, which were scheduled to be held on January 30 and January 31 were postponed marking the death of former Prime Minister and Chairperson of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) and greatest leader Bagum Khaleda Zia.
Member Secretary of the BPL Governing Council and Director of the BCB Iftekhar Rahman Mithu said to a local website, ” We are bound to stage the BPL in two venues. We are sorry to the spectators of Chattogram.”
The Eliminator and the 1st Qualifier will be held on January 19, while the 2nd Qualifier will take place on January 21 and the grand final will be held on January 23.
It may be mentioned that a total of six teams are taking part in this year’s BPL Cricket. They are: Dhaka Capitals, Sylhet Titans, Chattogram Royals, Rangpur Riders, Rajshahi Warriors and new comers Noakhali Express.
