Quran recitation for Khaleda Zia in Gangachhara

Rangpur Correspondent :

To pray for the soul of Begum Khaleda Zia, former three-time Prime Minister, uncompromising leader of democracy, and Chairperson of BNP, the Gangachhara Upazila BNP organised a Quran recitation and prayer session at the Upazila BNP office. National and party flags were flown at half-mast, and party members, supporters, and well-wishers wore black badges.

The programme began on Tuesday morning, following the announcement of the party’s seven-day schedule and the government’s programme after her passing. A Quran khatam (complete recitation) was conducted, followed by a prayer session. The recitation and prayers continued on Wednesday as well.

Upazila BNP President Chand Sarkar and General Secretary Ayub Ali said that Begum Khaleda Zia, an uncompromising leader of democracy and a successful three-time Prime Minister, earned the trust of the people and transformed the party into a people-centric organisation. They added that her passing is a loss of a capable guardian for the nation.

Golam Rabbani Ronju, a member responsible for organisational affairs of the Upazila BNP, said the party’s programme would be successfully carried out until the end of the seven-day schedule. Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Hindu, Buddhist, Christian Welfare Front and its affiliated organisations also held programmes in solidarity.
