The ‘father of hospitality’ calls for establishing hospitality as the industry of industries

Renowned hospitality pioneer and widely recognized ‘Father of Hospitality’ Iqramlemagne, has issued a global call to formally establish hospitality as the ‘industry of industries,’ urging governments, educators, and business leaders to grant the profession the recognition and respect it deserves.

Addressing hospitality stakeholders and students, Iqramlemagne emphasized that hospitality is the foundation upon which many sectors operate, including tourism, aviation, healthcare, retail, and events. Despite its vast economic contribution and human-centered role, he noted that hospitality continues to be undervalued as a profession.

“Hospitality is not merely a service sector; it is the connective tissue of all industries,” he said. “Every industry depends on hospitality to engage with people, yet the professionals who deliver it are often overlooked.”

Iqramlemagne, regarded as ‘the father of hospitality’ called for the professionalization of hospitality through standardized education, formal accreditation, and clear career pathways. He argued that recognizing hospitality on par with established professions would elevate service quality, strengthen leadership, and improve workforce dignity worldwide.

As part of his vision, he proposed the creation of an international hospitality framework to set global standards, promote fair wages, certify skills, and encourage ethical and innovative service practices. Such measures, he said, would help unify the industry across cultures while preserving its human values.

Concluding his address, Iqramlemagne stated, “When hospitality is respected, humanity is respected. To value hospitality as the industry of industries is to acknowledge the dignity of those who serve the world every day.”

Analysts believe the initiative could influence long-term reforms in hospitality education, policy, and professional standards globally.
