5 of a family killed in Dinajpur road crash

Five members of the same family were killed on Saturday afternoon after a speeding minibus ran over an easybike (battery-run three-wheeler) in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur.
All the victims were the passengers of the auto-rickshaw, police said.

The deceased are – Morjina, 50, wife of Md Yakub of village Kutoir Majhapara under 10 no Komolpur union in sadar upazila, her sister-in-law Tanjima, 35, wife of Yakub’s brother Aminul Islam, Sadia, 15, and Shammi, 9, two sisters and granddaughters of Morjina.
The crash occurred around 3pm in front of the Noshipur Wheat Research Centre on the Dinajpur–Doshmail highway.

Police said the identities of the victims were not immediately known.
Dinajpur Kotwali police officer-in-charge (investigation) Moniruzzaman said that the road accident took place at about 2:00pm on Saturday in front of the Bangladesh Wheat and Maize Research Institute at Nashipur.

Moniruzzaman said that after the accident the auto-rickshaw driver and a girl, another passenger of the auto-rickshaw, were taken to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital.
He said police were recovering the bodies and taking them to the station. After completing legal procedures, the bodies will be sent to the morgue for autopsy.

Soon after the clash, the minibus driver fled while police seized the bus, he said.
