BOU VC returns home

Professor Dr. A B M Obaidul Islam Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University (BOU) has returned home on Sunday night after attending a five-day international program held in Hiroshima, Japan.

It may be mentioned that he left Dhaka for Japan on Tuesday, 28 October 2025. Professor Dr. Islam attended the international program titled “The Journey of Digital Transformation of Education in Bangladesh Program” as a special guest.

The event was jointly organized by Hiroshima Public University and the Commonwealth Educational Media Centre for Asia (CEMCA-COL).

During the program, Professor Dr. Obaidul Islam delivered an insightful and significant speech highlighting the digital transformation in Bangladesh’s higher education, the expansion of open and distance learning, and the progress of technology-based education in the country.

In his address, he also emphasized the pivotal role of Bangladesh Open University in democratizing education and ensuring education for all – a contribution that was highly appreciated in the international arena.

The Vice-Chancellor’s visit is expected to open new avenues for international collaboration and research for BOU.

Mr. Sohail Ahmed Joint Director of the Media Division of the university accompanied the Vice-Chancellor during the visit.
