JU students stage protest against ISKCON

Savar Correspondent :

A group of Jahangirnagar University (JU) student on Saturday staged a protest march condemning repeated sexual violence, the alleged misdeeds of the hard-line ISKCON group, and the reported abduction of a mosque khatib in Tongi.

Sum 100 students brought out a protest procession around 2:30 pm from the university’s Bottola area which ended back at Bottola after parading several roads of the campus.

Addressing the protest Md. Safayet Mir said, “ISKCON is not a religious organisation.

Despite repeated crimes, the government has taken no effective action.”

Speaking at the gathering, Government and politics student Anzum Shahriar said, “Our mothers and sisters are being raped, imams who teach us faith are being made to disappear.

Yet, we see police issuing statements blaming the victims.”

“We will not tolerate any conspiracy against our women or the country’s sovereignty,” he added.
