Consensus commission holds meeting with experts

The National Consensus Commission has held another meeting with legal and policy experts to discuss recommendations on the implementation methods and strategies for the July National Charter 2025.
The meeting took place on Wednesday at the conference room of the Commission’s office in the National Parliament building, said a press release.
Present as expert participants were retired justice MA Matin of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court and Barrister Imran Siddique.
Other experts—retired justice Moinul Islam Chowdhury, Professor Mohammad Ikramul Haque, dean of the Faculty of Law at the University of Dhaka, and Sharif Bhuiyan, senior advocate of the Bangladesh Supreme Court—joined the meeting virtually.
The session focused on reviewing various expert recommendations concerning the effective implementation of the Charter.
The Commission also engaged in in-depth discussions on the advice received from the experts.
It was decided that the Commission will hold an internal meeting on Thursday morning to finalise key points, followed by another discussion session with the experts at 2pm.
Representing the Commission in the discussion were Vice President Ali Riaz, members Badiul Alam Majumdar, Justice Md Emdadul Haque, Iftekharuzzaman, Safar Raj Hossain, and Mohammad Aiyub Mia.
Monir Haider, special assistant to the chief adviser involved in the national consensus-building process, was also present at the meeting.
