Sreelekha wants to create something new for Dhaka’s OTT

Tollywood actress Sreelekha Mitra is often followed by controversy because of her outspoken nature. But she continues to move forward in her own way, setting aside the debates. Most recently, she was seen in the film Mayanagar. After a long break, last year Sreelekha signed on for a Dhaka-based film titled Tori, directed by Rashid Palash.

Speaking from Kolkata, Sreelekha said, “I was supposed to come to Dhaka last February for the shooting of Tori. But I couldn’t make it due to visa issues. Once the visa process resumes, I will come to Dhaka for the project.”

Earlier, Sreelekha acted in two Dhaka films-Singh Purush and Hothat Brishti. She last visited Dhaka in January 2023, when her self-produced and directed short film Ebong Chhad (And the Roof) was showcased at the 21st Dhaka International Film Festival.

However, Sreelekha is better known as an actress than as a filmmaker, both in India and Bangladesh. Expressing her interest in creating for Dhaka’s OTT platforms, she said, “I have watched quite a few OTT projects from Dhaka, and they are really good. I would love to create something new for Dhaka’s OTT. If I ever get the opportunity, I would definitely like to work on it.”
