Chief Adviser joins UNGA inaugural session

Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus on Tuesday attended the opening session of the United Nations General Assembly at the UN Headquarters in New York.
He was accompanied by Energy Adviser Fouzul Kabir Khan, Foreign Affairs Adviser Touhid Hossain, and Law Adviser Asif Nazrul.
Ahead of the session, Prof Yunus held meetings with Uruguayan Foreign Minister Mario Lubetkin, former Chilean President and ex-UN Human Rights Chief Michelle Bachelet, and World Bank President Ajay Banga.
As per his official schedule, the Chief Adviser is set to meet the Director General of the World Trade Organization at 10:30 am, followed by another meeting with the World Bank President at 11 am. At 11:30 am, he will sit with Her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands.
Later in the day, he will attend the Fashion for Development (F4D): 13th Annual Official First Ladies Luncheon at 12:30 pm. In the afternoon, at 2:45 pm, he will take part in a high-level dialogue titled Meeting of Public and Private Sector Leaders on Social Innovation: Mobilizing Financing through Social Innovation.
In the evening, the Chief Adviser will join a reception hosted by US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump at 7 pm.
Prof Yunus arrived in New York on Monday to attend the 80th session of the UN General Assembly.
