6-point demands of prime mover trailers announced

Chittagong Prime Mover Trailers Owners-Workers Oikya Parisad held a press conference at Chittagong Press Club auditorium yesterday morning .
President of Oikya Parisad and President of Clearing & Forwarding Association Akhter Hossain read out the written statement before the journalists.
Six -points demands of the Oikya Parishad was presented before the journalists . These demands include withdrawal of city corporation and BRTA illegally imposed taxes, to redress the police harassment , amendment of BRTA rules regarding prime mover trailer registration, issuance of HTV license to the drivers of Prime movers, establishment of Prime movers terminal in port areas, to stop the extortions in the name of scale and bridge load policy and stoppage of cases against the movers under section 151 in the name of open trucks etc. The written statement was told that during the blockade and hartal period of the opposition in October, November, December, 2014 the prime movers inccured loss of about 50 lakhs taka as well as damaged move than 50 movers including totally gutted of 3 movers. Besides, 12 drivers and 12 helpers became victims of petrol bombs during the period. The press was told that BRTA has fixed document fees at 4 times high than earlier and CCC fixed taxes of Tk.10000/- instead of Tk.500 only.
