Sheikh Russell Krira Chakra blanked Chittagong Abahani Limited by 2-0 goals in the Manyavar Bangladesh Premier Football League (BPFL) held on Sunday at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
In the day’s match, skipper Mithun Chowdhury opened an account for Sheikh Russell in the 21st minute as defender Tapu Barman sent a cross from the right and Mithun nodded home at the far post (1-0).
Bosnian defender Bojan Patrick sealed the victory for Sheikh Russel scoring the second goal in the 39th minute. Receiving the ball from a free kick of Wali Faisal, Nigerian forward Paul Emile’s took a shot to goal and Bojan changed the direction with a touch sending the ball into the far post net while the poor rival goalkeeper dived at the other end (2-0).
This win took Sheikh Russell to a 19 points, one points behind league leader Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club, from 9 matches while Chittagong Abahani had to remain to their previous credit of 5 points, playing the same number of outings.
