High Court dismisses Shahidul Alam’s case

The High Court has declared illegal and dismissed the case filed under the ICT Act against internationally acclaimed photographer and activist Shahidul Alam.

The court delivered the verdict on Thursday, August 7, effectively ending the proceedings, according to his legal team.

The case was originally filed in August 2018 under the now-defunct ICT Act. On November 4, 2024, the High Court had earlier stayed the case and issued a rule asking why it should not be quashed.

Following that, Shahidul Alam filed a formal petition seeking dismissal of the case, which the court has now granted.
