Govt’s February election move to revive business confidence: DCCI
Business Desk :
The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has welcomed the government’s announcement to hold national elections in February, saying it will help restore confidence among both local and foreign investors.
“For a long time, we have said that strong business and investor confidence cannot be achieved without an elected government. There is no alternative to elections,” said DCCI President Taskeen Ahmed Thursday night, media reports.
The DCCI chief noted that the interim government’s announcement will reduce uncertainty in the business community.
“This will not only reassure domestic entrepreneurs but also send a positive signal to foreign investors who are currently doing business with Bangladesh or are considering it,” he added.
While acknowledging that investment does not materialize overnight, Taskeen Ahmed stressed that a stable, elected government is a key prerequisite.
“That path has now been paved through this announcement,” he said.
Earlier on Tuesday Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus said he would write to the Election Commission, asking it to organize the general election in February 2026, before Ramadan.
“Now it is time for us to fulfil our final duty: holding the election.
