JERA Meghnaghat Power plays vital role in meeting power demand

JERA Meghnaghat Power Limited is a significant and strategic project in Bangladesh’s power sector. Located in Meghnaghat of Narayanganj district, approximately 40 kilometers southeast of the capital Dhaka, this power plant plays a crucial role in meeting the country’s growing electricity demand.

This gas-fired combined cycle power plant has a maximum generation capacity of 745 megawatts, with a net output of 718 megawatts. Its modern technology and high-efficiency infrastructure distinguish it from traditional thermal power plants. By ensuring minimal emissions and maximizing fuel utilization, the plant sets a benchmark for environmentally friendly electricity generation.

To ensure consistent and uninterrupted power generation, a 22-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) has been signed with the Bangladesh Power Development Board (BPDB). Additionally, a 22-year gas supply agreement with Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company ensures uninterrupted operation of the project.
