NN organises tech based training prog for women

News Network (NN) organised a three day training programme on Technical Knowledge Development for Women in cooperation with The Asia Foundation and Foreign Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in Dhaka on Tuesday.

A total of 14 women journalists from various print and electronic media took part in the training held at NGO Forum for Public Health Office at Lalmatia, Dhaka.

The concluding session was addressed among others by Sara Taylor, Visiting Mongolia Country Representative, The Asia Foundation, Mir Junayed Jamal, Team Lead, PERI Programme and Iqbal Mahmood – Deputy Team Lead, PERI Programme, Marium Mahzabin, Reform Coordinator, PERI Programme and Fardeen Rahman, Communications Coordinator, PERI Programme.

News Network Editor Shahiduzzaman moderated the overall programme while media expert Ziaur Rahman, digital expert Raihan Masud conducted sessions. During the programme, participants learned about the basics of journalism, ethical practices of journalism, social media and the nitty-gritty of digital safety and security as well as the ethical use of AI.

In her concluding speech, Sara Taylor mentioned that “We recognise that the media cannot be truly inclusive if women, who make up half our society, are not equally represented, heard or empowered in newsrooms and in frontline of reporting.”
