Stocks struggle as large-caps tumble

Stock markets on Tuesday finished the session of the week flat as investors continued to book recent profits while resilient buyers also showed resilience amid optimism driven by positive macroeconomic developments.
DSEX, the broad index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE), edged up by 0.4 points to settle at 5,062.2 points as against 5,061.8 points in the previous trading session.
Market turnover increased by 15.8 percent (pc) to Taka 6.5 billion compared to Taka 5.6 billion in the previous session, reports BSS.
On the sectoral front, Textile (12.2pc) issues exerted the highest turnover, followed by Pharma (12.1pc) and Engineering (10.1pc) sectors.
Sectors displayed mixed returns, out of which Paper (4.8pc), Life Insurance (3.9pc) and Jute (2.7pc) exhibited the most positive returns on the bourse on Tuesday, while Mutual Fund (-0.9pc), Ceramic (-0.8pc) and Travel (-0.6pc) exerted some correction.
