Rotary Club launches rota year with green initiative in Sylhet

With the aim of protecting the environment and making it green, tree saplings have been distributed to Gazi Burhan Uddin Madrasa and Orphanage at the initiative of Rotary Club of Sylhet Midtown.
In this eco-friendly programme organized on Tuesday (July 1) afternoon in the premises of the madrasa, more than a hundred saplings of various forest and medicinal trees including mango, jackfruit were distributed.

Rotary Club of Sylhet Mid Town President Rotarian Shelina Chowdhury said, ‘Our role in protecting the environment is essential. By handing over saplings to the children, we have not only planted trees, but also planted awareness and responsibility for the future among them.’

Also present in this program were Club Secretary Rotarian Mia Md. Rustom, Deputy Coordinator of D-65 Ripsha Team Rotarian PP Shah Jamal Ahmed, Co-Coordinator of D-65 Ripsha Team Rotarian PP Add Md. Abdul Hafiz, Rotarian PP Engineer Imad Uddin, Rotarian Md. Abul Kalam, Rotarian Aminul Islam and others.

During the sapling distribution, a brief speech was given to the students on environmental awareness. At the end, a few trees were planted in the madrasa premises with the participation of everyone.

Madrasa Muhtamim Alhaj Maulana Shaikh Nasir Uddin welcomed the initiative and said, ‘Handing over tree saplings to the students means making them responsible for their future. The work done by the Rotary Club is undoubtedly commendable.
