Abdul Awal Mintoo named ‘Global Agri-Food Pioneer’

Business Report :

Prominent Bangladeshi business leader and politician Abdul Awal Mintoo has been named one of the ‘2025 Top Agri-Food Pioneers (TAP)’ by the World Food Prize Foundation.

This distinguished recognition highlights his remarkable and enduring contributions to agriculture and food security-both within Bangladesh and on the global stage.

As the Chairman of Lal Teer Seed Limited, Mintoo has played a pivotal role in transforming Bangladesh’s agricultural sector. His company supplies approximately 30 percent of the country’s total seed requirement-a vital contribution given the long-standing challenges of inadequate seed production and distribution that hindered crop yields until the 1990s.

To address this pressing issue, Mintoo founded Lal Teer Seed Limited in 1995 under the Multimode Group. This initiative marked a turning point for Bangladesh’s food security, enabling farmers to access high-quality seeds essential for higher productivity.
