Nissanka hits ton: Lanka lead by 43 runs on Day 2 against Tigers

Sri Lanka led by 43 runs on Day 2 against Tigers in the second Test scoring 290 for the loss of two wickets at Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo, the capital city of Sri Lanka on Thursday. Pathum Nissanka and Dinesh Chandimal played the key role to take the upper hand against the visitors. Nissanka remained unbeaten with 146 runs. He hit 18 fours in his 238-ball knock. It was Nissanka’s 4th Test century. He has played 18 Test matches. Chandimal was a victim of nervous nineties. He was deprived from a century for just seven runs. Chandimal notched up a superb 93. His 153-ball innings was decorated with 10 fours and a sixer. It was Chandimal’s 34th half century in Test cricket. Chandimal has played 90 Test matches.

Earlier, Bangladesh made 247 in the first innings on the second day of the second Test.
Bangladesh resumed their first innings with the over-night score of 220 for the loss of eight wickets.

Taijul Islam and Ebadot Hossain resumed their first innings with the over-night score of nine and five runs respectively.

Eabadot Hossain could add more three runs on the second day as he (8) was trapped leg before wicket by Asitha Fernando when the tourists’ score was 229 for the loss of nine wickets.

Taijul Islam made 33. He hit five fours in his 60-ball innings before he was caught at the midwicket by Dinesh Chandimal off Sonal Dinusha when Bangladesh’s first innings came to an end.

Asitha Fernando and Sonal Dinusha of Sri Lanka got success with the cherry on the second day.
Sonal Dinusha and Asitha Fernando completed their first innings bowling bagging three wickets each for 22 and 51 runs respectively.

Sri Lanka had a solid start with two openers Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Udana put on together 88 runs in the opening stand before Udana was trapped leg before wicket by left-arm spinner Taijul Islam.

Udana hit a sparkle 40. His 65-ball innings was decorated with four fours.

After Udana’s dismissal, Pathum Nissanka and one-down Dinesh Chandimal added together 194 runs for the second wicket partnership before he was caught by Litton Das off right-arm spinner Nayeem Hasan.

Prabath Jayasuriya remained unbeaten with five runs.

Nayeem Hasan and Taijul Islam took one wicket each for 45 and 90 runs respectively.
