‘Don’t snatch others business like AL’

Staff Reporter :

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has asked his party men not to snatch away others’ businesses like the previous ruling party Awami League.

“In Uttara, a businessman named Tushar used to provide cable TV connection to my house. After the Awami League came to power, they took away his cable business. If BNP activists did the same, we would be no different from them. We cannot seize others’ businesses like they do. We are always alert about this,” he said.

BNP Secretary General alleged that the Awami League has destroyed all constitutional institutions through misrule over the past 15 years.

He made this remark while speaking as the chief guest at the official inauguration of the membership renewal program of Dhaka North Metropolitan BNP, held on Wednesday at Ranabhola in Turag, Dhaka.

Mirza Fakhrul said, “One day in prison, I saw an elderly BNP activist named Borhan wearing a prison uniform and sweeping the floor. Seeing that caused me great pain. Over the last 15 years, whatever the Awami League said became law.”

The senior BNP leader further stated that due to a meeting in London between Dr. Yunus and Tarique Rahman, the national election might be held in February instead of April. “This meeting has displeased one political party. They are upset because they already know which party would form the government if the election takes place,” he said.
