Praava Health highlights mental resilience on Family Doctor Day

NN Online:

Praava Health marked World Family Doctor Day 2025 with a roundtable and recognition ceremony focused on this year’s theme: “Building Mental Resilience in a Changing World.”

The event, held at Praava’s Dhaka headquarters, brought together family medicine physicians, mental health professionals, policymakers, and patients. The discussion centered on making Bangladesh’s primary healthcare system more empathetic, community-focused, and resilient.

Praava Health CEO Mohammad Abdul Matin Emon underscored the critical role of family doctors in promoting preventive care. He introduced Home Health, a new service offering medical consultations, physiotherapy, nursing, and caregiving support at patients’ homes. “Healing begins where people feel safest—at home,” he said.

Professor Dr. Mohammed Shadrul Alam, Director of the Centre for Medical Education (CME) at DGME, emphasized a culture shift in healthcare that prioritizes trust, empathy, and care within the community.

The discussion was moderated by Praava COO Dr. Simeen Akhtar, who reaffirmed the organization’s patient-first philosophy. “We want our patients to feel safe seeking help, no matter how small the concern,” she said.

Senior Consultant Dr. Shoaib Ahmad likened family doctors to trusted members of the family, while Brig Gen (Retd) Prof Dr. Md. Bashidul Islam highlighted the importance of preserving the family medicine model for future generations.

Long-time patients Amena Rahman and Ms. Shaiya shared their appreciation for Praava’s attentive and compassionate care, noting the clinic’s unique ability to listen and understand.

The event concluded with a strong, unified call to advance a more inclusive and prevention-driven healthcare system, grounded in trust, empathy, and lasting doctor-patient relationships.
