ICC Under-19 World Cup: Sadman, Joyraz power Bangladesh to earn overwhelming win over Afghanistan
An undefeated century by Sadman Islam and an unbeaten half-century by Joyraz Sheikh powered Bangladesh Under-19 Cricket team to earn an overwhelming 10-wicket win over Afghanistan Under-19 Cricket team in their Group B match of the ICC Under-19 World Cup at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi of UAE on Saturday.
Chasing Afghanistan’s 212 off 50 overs, Bangladesh overhauled the winning target in 42.3 overs making 216 for the loss of none.
Sadman Islam and Joyraz Sheikh put on together 216 runs in the unbroken opening stand.
Sadman remained unconquered with 126. His 142-ball knock was laced with 14 boundaries and one over boundary while Joyraz Sheikh remained undefeated with 81. His 114-ball innings was decorated with 11 fours.
Earlier, Mohammad Mujtaba, Hashmatullah Shaidi and Nasir Ahmadzai of Afghanistan scored 47, 43 and 41 runs respectively.
Mosaddek Hossain of Bangladesh grabbed three wickets in the space of 19 runs while Rahatul Ferddous bagged a couple of wickets instead of 38 runs and Abu Haider took one wicket for 41 runs.
