Kishoreganj madrasa teacher commits suicide

A madrasa teacher named Maulana Lutfar Rahman (76) has reportedly committed suicide by slitting his throat in Kishoreganj on Thursday before Ifter time.

He was a teacher at Al- Jamiatul Imdadia Madrasa,Kishoreganj .

His family claimed that he committed suicide by stabbing himself in the throat at his rented house in Char-Sholakia area on Wednesday.

Sadar Circle Additional SP Monotosh Biswas visited on the spot.

Officer-in Charge (OC) of Kishoreganj sadar model Police Station, Abdullah -al-Mamun said that the family members went to the police station on Wednesday night and reported this information in writing.

It is learnt that Mufti Maulana Lutfar Rahman suddenly started screaming while going to the bathroom on Wednesday afternoon. Family members rushed to find him lying with his throat slit. At that time, they saw a knife lying next to him.

He was taken to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College Hospital in a life-threatening condition, where doctors declared him dead.

Police said the body has been sent to the morgue for an autopsy. The knife has been seized. Earlier, in 2022, Maulana Lutfar Rahman was stabbed by his son.
