27 primary schools name changed

The names of 27 government primary schools, previously named after former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her family members, have been changed.

This information was revealed in a circular issued by the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education on February 26.

According to the circular, Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Sutrapur, Dhaka, has been renamed Karkunbari Government Primary School, while Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Mohammadpur, Dhaka, is now Tajmahal Government Primary School. Additionally, 16 No. Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Narayanganj Sadar, has been renamed 16 No. Paikpara West Government Primary School.

Similarly, Panchbariya Hasina Wazed Government Primary School, Pangsha, Rajbari, has been renamed Panchbariya Government Primary School, while Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University Government Primary School, Gazipur, is now Gazipur Agricultural University Government Primary School.

In Barishal, Char Satraj Sheikh Russell Government Primary School, Bakerganj, has been renamed Char Satraj Government Primary School, while West Pirojpur Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Pirojpur Sadar, is now West Pirojpur Government Primary School.

Additionally, Sheikh Russell Government Primary School, Dhamoirhat, Naogaon, has been renamed Jagatnagar Government Primary School, and Sheikh Russell Government Primary School, Patnitala, Naogaon, is now Nadour Government Primary School.

Furthermore, Dr. M A Wazed Miah Government Primary School, Pirganj, Rangpur, has been renamed Subornopukur Government Primary School. Bangamata Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Government Primary School, Fulbar, Mymensingh, is now Nayapara Government Primary School.

In Feni, Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Daganbhuiyan, has been renamed Pashchim Karmullapur Government Primary School. Mujib Russell Vidyapith Government Primary School, Jajira, Shariatpur, has been renamed Horiyasa Government Primary School.

Similarly, Nitar Kandi Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Bajitpur, Kishoreganj, is now Nitar Kandi Government Primary School.

Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Kishoreganj Sadar, has been renamed Batrish Government Primary School, and Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Government Primary School, Gopalpur, Tangail, is now Dakshin Sonamui Government Primary School.

The Ministry of Primary and Mass Education has not provided a specific reason for the name changes. However, the decision has sparked mixed reactions, with some viewing it as an administrative move, while others perceive it through a political lens.
