BNP pledges to meet people’s aspirations
Staff Reporter :
The BNP on Friday said it has decided from the party’s extended meeting on Thursday to make all-out preparations to take on the responsibility of fulfilling the aspirations of the people.
Aiming to implement this decision, the party instructed its leaders, workers at all levels, and all affiliated parties and associate organizations to actively engage with the public through people-friendly programs.
It also emphasized the importance of earning the trust and respect of the people through both words and actions, according to a Facebook post shared on the party’s official page on Friday, outlining the meeting’s key decisions.
“Simultaneously, this meeting issues strict directives to everyone to avoid all forms of anti-people activities and internal conflicts, including any negligence in executing party policies, ideals, and programs,” the post said.
Chaired by BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman, the leaders voiced their “deep concern and outrage” over the escalating prices of essential goods and the deteriorating law and order situation.
The party urged the interim government to take immediate and effective steps to ensure commodity prices remain within people’s purchasing capacity and to improve law and order conditions.
“The meeting firmly believes that if swift action is not taken, the increasing public distress-resulting from the government’s failure to secure fair prices for agricultural producers and other daily necessities, as well as its inability to dismantle the Awami League syndicate controlling the marketing of imported goods-could jeopardize peace and stability in the country,” the Facebook post read.
Additionally, it said, “There is a pressing need to build collective resistance against businessmen and syndicates that thrive under the fallen government, along with those attempting to disrupt public life under the guise of unjustified movements. This requires fostering unity among all political parties and organizations across different social classes and professions within the anti-fascist movement. The government’s inability to take legal and effective action against those involved in extortion, land grabbing, and disorder is unacceptable.”
BNP also demanded a clear explanation from the government regarding “how the illegitimate head of government-responsible for countless anti-people and anti-human crimes, including enforced disappearances, murders, and the filing of absentee cases over a prolonged period-was allowed to leave the country unhindered, while numerous criminals continue to roam freely.” This was a reference to ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
The party expressed frustration and dissatisfaction over the delays in prosecuting and punishing these individuals, despite what it describes as clear evidence and credible allegations from both domestic and international organizations.
“This meeting asserts that the government must be more proactive in taking effective diplomatic and legal measures against those conspiring and spreading propaganda against the country’s independence, sovereignty, and public order, along with their domestic collaborators,” the BNP said.
Furthermore, the party strongly demanded the immediate withdrawal of all “fabricated and enforced disappearance cases” filed by the fallen fascist government and its 1/11 collaborators.
