BIF gets new president, secretary

The Bangladesh Insurance Forum (BIF), representing the CEOs of both life and non-life insurance companies in the private sector, announced its new 17-member executive committee for the 2025-2026 term.

B. M. Yousuf Ali, CEO of Popular Life Insurance, has been re-elected as the president, while Brig Gen Md Shafique Shamim, psc (retd), CII (cert), ABIA, CEO of Sena Kalyan Insurance, takes on the role of General Secretary.

This announcement followed the election schedule set by the Election Commission, which initially called for elections on February 22 due to the lack of opposition candidates.

Other key members elected include Abul Kalam Azad, the CEO of Takaful Islami Insurance, and Mohammad Kazim Uddin, CEO of National Life Insurance, have been elected as Vice Presidents.

SM Nuruzzaman, CEO of Zenith Islami Life Insurance, and Mohammad Nure Alam Siddique, CEO of Bangladesh Cooperative Insurance, have been chosen as Joint General Secretaries.

Monirul Alam Munshi, CEO of Bengal Islami Life Insurance, has been elected Finance Secretary, while Mohammad Gias Uddin, CEO of Trust Islami Life Insurance, and Dr. A.K.M. Sarwar Jahan Jamil, CEO of Republic Insurance, have been elected as Organizing Secretaries.

Abdul Matin Sorkar, CEO of Standard Insurance, will serve as Office Secretary.
Additionally, the following individuals have been appointed as Executive Members: Mohammad Imam Shaheen, CEO of Asia Insurance, Kazi Mokarram Dantgir, CEO of Islami Commercial Insurance, Hasan Tarek, CEO of Eastern Insurance, Bayejid Mujtaba Siddiqui, CEO of Dhaka Insurance, Muhammad Nurul Alam Chowdhury, CEO of South Asia Insurance, Chowdhury Golam Faruq, CEO of Northern Islami Insurance, Mohammad Samsul Alam, CEO of Prime Islami Life Insurance.
