The waste collection work with mobile vehicles is progressing in Kulaura Municipality of Moulvibazar.
On Monday afternoon, Municipal Administrator Md. Mohiuddin inaugurated the third phase of waste collection work in Kulauragram, Ahmedabad, Notun Para, and Uttarbazar areas of Wards 2 and 3 of the municipality.
Earlier, the first phase of waste collection was officially inaugurated in Magura area of Ward 4 of the municipality on January 10 and the second phase was inaugurated in Ahmedabad area of Wards 2 and 3 on January 15.
The inaugural ceremony of the third phase was moderated by former councilor of the municipality, Kaysar Arif, and was attended by former councilor Joynal Abedin Bachchu, assistant engineer of the municipality, Kamrul Hasan, retired teacher Anwar Hossain, Maulana Abdus Salam, businessman Abdul Munim, Habibur Rahman, Mosharraf Hossain Shamim, Bichitra Dev, general secretary of the Kulaura Upazila Press Club, Nazmul Bari Suhel, and others.
Meanwhile, a new modern vehicle (for cleaning the sanitary tanks of houses) was inaugurated by Administrator Md. Mohiuddin on January 26, as a new addition to the service sector of the municipality’s citizens.
Municipal Administrator Md. Mohiuddin said, “We want to build a beautiful, livable, clean municipality. To build a clean municipality, all citizens must be aware and come forward with cooperation.”
Many citizens used to throw the garbage and waste collected in their homes on the side of the municipal drain and road instead of throwing it in the designated dustbin. From that thought, the work of collecting garbage from homes using mobile vehicles has been started.
Requesting the citizens of the municipality, he said, instead of throwing garbage everywhere, keep the garbage in a specific place, the driver of the mobile vehicle will go in front of the house and collect that garbage in the vehicle by blowing a whistle.
In this, I request all the citizens of the municipality to cooperate by handing over the garbage collected in the mobile vehicle. This program will be launched in the remaining wards of the municipality in phases.
