Barishal retain BPL Cricket title

Fortune Barishal retained the title of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket after defeating Chittagong Kings by three wickets in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in the capital’s Mirpur on Friday.
Chasing Chittagong’s fighting total of 194 for the loss of three wickets in the allotted 20 overs, Barishal cruised into the victory target making 195 for the loss of seven wickets when they had just three balls to spare.
Fortune Barishal made a solid start with two openers Tamim Iqbal and Towhid Hridoy scored together 76 runs for the opening partnership before Tamim Iqbal was caught by Khaled Ahmed off Shoriful Islam.
Tamim Iqbal notched up a terrific 54. His 29-ball innings was belted
with nine fours and a sixer. Tamim Iqbal was adjudged the Man of the Match.
After Tamim’s departure, one-down Dawid Malan could stay at the crease for a long period as he was trapped by leg before wicket by Shoriful Islam when Barishal’s total was 78 for the loss of two wickets.
Towhid Hridoy was caught by Arafat Sunny off Naeem Islam when Barishal’s score was 96 for the loss of three wickets.
Hridoy hit a fine 32. His 28-ball innings had three fours.
Second-down Kyle Mayers and third-down Mushfiqur Rahim added together 34 runs in the four-wicket stand before Mushfiqur Rahim (16) was caught by Khawaja Nafay off Nayeem Islam when Barishal’s score was 137 for the loss of four wickets.
Kyle Mayers hit a splendid 46. His 28-ball knock was decorated with three sixes and three fours. Later, Rishad Hossain’s cameo role helped Barishal to win the match.
Rishad Hossain hit 18 from just six balls with two sixes.
Shoriful Islam captured four wickets in the space of 34 runs, while Naeem Islam bagged two wickets at the cost of 18 runs. Binura Fernando took one wicket for 42 runs.
Chittagong Kings had a formidable start as openers Khawaja Nafay and Parvez Hossain Emon put on together 121 runs in the opening stand before Khawaja Nafay was caught behind by wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim off Ebadot Hossain.
Nafay hammered a superb 66. His 44-ball innings was laced with three sixes and seven fours.
After Nafay’s dismissal, Parvez Hossain Emon and one-down Graham Clark salvaged their team from debacle adding together 70 runs for the second wicket partnership before Clark was run out by a joint-effort by Mohammad Nabi and Mushfiqur Rahim when Chittagong’s total was 191 for the loss of two wickets.
Graham Clark hit a polished 44. He struck three sixes and two fours in his 23-ball knock.
Second-down Shamim Hossain (2) was caught at the midwicket by Towhid Hridoy off Mohammad Ali when Chittagong’s score was 193 for the loss of three wickets.
Parvez Hossain Emon remained unbeaten with 78. His 49-ball innings was ornamented with six fours and three sixes. Mohammad Ali and Ebadot Hossain took one wicket each for 21 and 35 runs respectively.
