Malan hits half-century: Massive victory for Barishal in BPL Cricket

Fortune Barishal posted a massive six-wicket victory over Chittagong Kings in their seventh match of the Dutch-Bangla Bank Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Cricket at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram on Sunday.
Chasing Chittagong’s modest total of 121 for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Barishal sailed home scoring 122 for the loss of four wickets when they had 19 balls to spare.
Fortune Barishal took the second position in the points table gaining 10 points from seven matches, while Chittagong Kings took the third spot collecting eight points from as many outings.
Rangpur Riders led the points table getting maximum 16 points from eight matches.
Barishal had a sorrow start as opener Tamim Iqbal (8) was run out by a joint-effort of Usman Khan and Aliss Islam when Barishal’s score was just 14,
One-down Towhid Hridoy (1) was caught by Parvez Hossain Emon off Khaled Ahmed when Barishal’s total was 16 for the loss of two wickets.
Mushfiqur Rahim (11) was caught by Shoriful Islam off Arafat Sunny when Barishal’s score was 32 for the loss of three wickets.
Mahmudullah Riyad (16) was caught by Graham Clark off Khaled Ahmed when Barishal’s total was 53 for the loss of four wickets.
Opener Dawid Malan and Mohaamad Nabi powered their team to anchor the victory scoring together 69 runs for the unbeaten fifth wicket partnership.
Dawid Malan remained unbeaten with 56 runs. He struck two sixes and three fours in his 41-ball innings. Malan was adjudged the Man of the Match for his match-winning innings.
Mahammad Nabi remained unbeaten with 26 runs. His 21-ball knock was laced with three fours.
Khaled Ahmed grabbed a pair of wickets instead of 27 runs, while Arafat Sunny picked up one wicket conceding 33 runs.
Earlier, Mohammad Mithun and Arafat Sunny built the only notable partnership. They scored together 31 runs for the seventh wicket partnership before Mohammad Mithun was caught by Mahmudullah Riyad off Tanvir Islam when Chittagong Kings’ total was 87 for the loss of seven wickets.
Mohammad Mithun hit a captain’s knock of 35. His 34-ball innings was belted with two sixes and one four.
Arafat Sunny remained unbeaten with 27 runs. He hit two fours in his 34-ball knock.
Opener Usman Khan was the other batter of Chittagong who reached the double digit figures making 19 runs. He hit three fours and a sixer in his 13-ball innings.
Faheem Ashraf and Ripon Mondol captured three wickets each giving 12 and 23 runs respectively, while Tanvir Islam bagged two wickets for 14 runs.
