Dengue claims 6 more lives across the country in the last 24 hours while 1,248 patients were hospitalised till Sunday morning.
Among the deaths, four were reported in Dhaka city and the rest in Barishal and Rangpur divisions, a release of Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.
With the fresh fatalities, the total death toll rose to 277 this year while total number of infected are 56,911.
It said 151 new patients have been admitted to hospital in Barishal division while 207 in Chattogram division, 260 in Dhaka district, 278 in Dhaka North city, 167 in Dhaka South city, 107 in Khulna division, 51 in Mymensingh, 4 in Sylhet division and 23 have been admitted in Rangpur division.
Currently, 3,984 patients are receiving treatment in various hospitals across the country. Since January 1, 2024, a total of 56,911 dengue cases have been reported.
Last year was particularly severe, with 1,705 deaths recorded, making it the deadliest year on record. The DGHS recorded 321,179 dengue cases and 318,749 recoveries in 2023.
